Lego Movie Advertising and Marketing Questions
To what extent does Propp's theory fit the Lego Movie poster campaign?(5 marks)
I think it fully fits the propp theory because the character Vitruvius' poster infers he has magical powers with the dragon in the background and his eyes glowing, this fits in to the donor category of the Propp theory. However the character Wytldstyle does conform to the Propp theory but not in the stereotypical way as typically the female is considered the princess but she challenges this assumption because she is the helper in the movie.
Analyse how genre codes have been used in the lego movie poster campaign to appeal to a family audience (10 marks)
comedy action
In the main poster the genre code that has been used is action, we know this because there is a big explosion and everyone is running, there is also some helicopters which connote to action and some of the characters facial expressions look like they are ready to fight. It is very busy which might appeal to the whole family as there will be something happening that each family member is interested in for example the intertextuality of the superhero's featured like batman, superman and superwoman would attract the younger audience (children) because its something that stereotypically younger children like at that age, however it would also attract the older audience because it will give them a sense of nostalgia. the facial expression on the main character Emmett looks like he is scared which brings the comedic genre into the poster because as the hero he shouldn't be scared so it would make the family audience laugh.
In the Vitruvius poster it shows a magical character because of hi glistening eyes, this fits into the genre 'fantasy' and would therefore appeal to children as they are typically interested in this genre. The interest with this character for the adults would be that he is played by Morgan Freeman who everyone loves and it states it right at the top of the poster so that catches their eye straight away.

Darcie, again this has not been completed - this needs to be done during Thursday's lesson. It only requires another two points so should not take you longer than 7 minutes.
